ABSTRACT
The article notes that the choice of profession by young people in modern society is influenced by many factors and this process begins in childhood. The goal of each of the generally accepted subjects of professional guidance is to help the younger generation choose the right life and professional path. The group of main factors includes the young person’s immediate environment, which includes parents, relatives, acquaintances, friends, teachers, and representatives of certain professions. The second group of factors, mainly external to the individual, influences the views and decisions of young people through social institutions – the system of general secondary and vocational education, and the media. In market conditions, the family occupies a central place in the professional guidance of young people and expresses the needs of the individual in a standart form. An important aspect of a young person’s professional self-determination is also a clear understanding that the decision to choose a profession is made by the person himself, and not someone else. The socio-economic situation of the state, as an objective factor, directly affects the professional plans of young people.
Purpose: The main goal of the study is to study the influence of modern formal and informal institutions on the process of professional self-determination of young people.
Methodology: The methodological basis of the research is the method and principles of scientificity and objectivity, the dialectical connection of events and processes in the social and professional sphere. To achieve this goal, the research used methods of structural-functional, factorial and comparative analysis. Research results: An analysis of the factors in the formation of social and professional selfdetermination of young people leads to the conclusion that they need to create a unified network that purposefully implements activities to choose a profession together with the employment institution.
